Maintenance (Spousal Support) Not all cases involve support from one spouse to the other. The obligation of one spouse to assist with the support of the other for a temporary or permanent basis is decided on a case by case basis as agreed to by the parties or at the court�s discretion. Spousal support or maintenance if ordered at permanent orders is to be in such amounts and for such periods of time as the court deems just, without regard to marital misconduct and after considering all relevant factors. Child Support Colorado has a comprehensive law to determine child support, so that all people with the same or similar set of facts receive the same or similar child support order. The monthly child support obligation is determined by applying law which considers several factors including:
Child support continues until a child emancipates. Under current Colorado law, the age of emancipation is 19 years of age. If a child is mentally or physically disabled, the court may order child support to continue beyond the age of nineteen.
